Southcott – Over a Century of Quality and Service

Southcott Pty Ltd was founded in Adelaide, South Australia in 1886 as a general engineering business by two brothers James and Albert Southcott. The brothers made history in Australia with their accomplishments in the design and manufacturing of the ACME water cooler, saddle-stitching machine (Australian Light Horse Military) and stamp perforation machine (Australia Post). The company’s involvement in hydraulics began in 1954 with the design and development of axial piston pumps and motors. Over a century later, the company remains entirely Australian owned by the Southcott family and has grown into a major force in hydraulics , control systems and fluid connectors .

Thanks to an extensive product range of world leading hydraulic suppliers, we are able to provide quality solutions to every major industry awarding us status within the market place as a reputable hydraulic solutions provider.

An Australian manufacturer, our commitment to excellence, expertise and dynamic culture have allowed us to continue to expand our operations to include a distribution network of 10 offices, 3 manufacturing facilities, an electronics division and over 150 distributors nationally.

CHILD – Excellence in Manufacturing

In 1984 Southcott acquired R.L Child, enabling it to become a complete supplier of hydraulic systems. Today the original CHILD manufacturing facility has doubled in size and an additional state-of-the-art facility was acquired in 2012 with the latest CNC machinery, ensuring fast reaction time to meet industry demands.

Southcott will continue to power the Australian industry into the future, meeting or exceeding industry standards, with hydraulic hose assemblies manufactured to MDG41 compliance.

The continued research, development and testing has diversified the CHILD product range and extended its applications in mining , industry and agriculture .
